Road Trip 2009 - West Coast Game Park Safari

Photobucket

On Day 5, we continued our drive north along the Oregon Coast. Our first stop was Brookings, OR. It was so foggy that the only thing we could really see of the ocean was the information signage below :(

Even more fog...

At least we found more wild raspberries :)

Eventually, we found a location high enough to get above all that fog and it was quite a spectacular scene :)

Finally saw the ocean near Port Orford...

Bought our lunch from The Crazy Norwegian's Fish and Chips. We waited quite a long time for our food. The restaurant was full and so we brought our lunch back to the park by the coast and ate there instead.

The highlight for this day was the West Coast Game Park Safari in Bandon, OR. If you like going to the zoo, this would be perfect for you.

Photobucket

There were lots of free roaming goats, donkeys, deers, etc that will flock around you if they know that you bought the feed for them.

The animal feed is contained in ice-cream cones in case you are scared of the animals eating directly out of your hands. Sonya held the cones and fed the goats but Clara just threw the whole cone onto the ground when they got too near to her :)

When too many animals get too close to Sonya, she freaked and cling on to Justin for dear life :)

Clara loved the little goats, because they were smaller than her, and wanted to pet them.

Photobucket

Besides the free roaming and relatively mild animals, there were also other baby animals that we got to pet and cuddle.

Photobucket

First off was the one year old lynx. Although it was a year old, it can still do much damage and thus the chain around its neck for safety purposes.

Photobucket

Sonya wanted nothing to do with it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Our usual dare devil Clara "sayang" it on its back.

Next was a baby leopard which was about 2 months old :)

Sonya, Clara and myself got to pet the baby leopard while Justin took photos :)

Last was the baby lion. He was only 5 weeks old and looked so cute napping with his stuffed toy :)

We had to queue for our turn and it woke up when it was our turn :)

I wonder if we would ever get this close to these animals again...

Small goats cute, big donkey scary :)
