Photobucket

Went back to Salem Willows Park today. Got there at about noon and had pizza and hotdog for lunch on the grass overlooking the sea :)

No trip to Salem Willows Park is complete until we had ice-cream :)

Realized that I had a mini frisbee in my bag :)

Despite all their efforts, it never really went very far but it was hilarious to see how they threw it with all their might and it still landed right in front of them :)

Cheese Making Workshop

Brought Sonya and Clara to a cheese making workshop this afternoon. I had made cheese at home myself but had problems many times so I was interested to see how the organizers made their cheese. Oh, it was mozarella cheese that we were making. Also, kids were encouraged to make the cheese so perfect activity for Sonya. Clara was bored most of the time though.

They heated the milk and then added lemon juice to the milk to help it curdle.

Added rennet to further help in the curdling.

While waiting for the milk to curdle, they did an interesting experiment where the kids cracked a raw egg into a bowl and then alcohol was added to it. The alcohol actually started cooking the egg. It was quite amazing!

Now the curds had formed and ready to be separated from the whey.

Heat the curds in the microwave, then stretch it and the cheese all ready.

Recycled Fashion

Photobucket

Got quite a bit of crumpled packing paper from some packages that I received. Clara came up with the idea of wrapping one of the pieces around her waist to become a princess dress and it became the perfect activity to do on a hot friday afternoon :)

Photobucket

These costumes were so fragile that they didn't last very long :)
