Popiah

Always trying to make meal times more fun for Sonya and Clara, I decided to try making popiah. After 2 failed attempts at making my own popiah skins, I was about to settle for frozen spring roll skin when I found these frozen popiah skin from Philippines!

Sonya and Clara got to assemble their own popiahs.

I was not sure if either of them will actually eat the popiah since it has so much vegetables in it but it was a hit!

Photobucket

Clara ate from both ends of her popiah.

Justin was held up at work so when he got back, Sonya was already able to assemble her own popiah. She was so proud that she got to teach Justin how to do it.

Yummy and fun!

Boston Lion Dance Parade

Photobucket

It was the annual Lion Dance Parade at Boston Chinatown last Sunday. We started off with a dim sum brunch at Emperor's Garden before heading downstairs to see the lion dance troupes visiting all shops in Chinatown.

Photobucket

It was a nice brunch in that Sonya and Clara were more adventurous and tried other dim sum dishes other than just char siew buns.

Firecrackers going off... Sonya really didn't like the firecrackers because they were just too loud.

I guess everything has to be loud to scare off the evil "nian".

Clara's Special Day

It was Clara's Special Day at preschool yesterday where Sonya and I got to spend time in the classroom with her. We got to see what she has been up to :)

Sonya is on school vacation this whole week so she was happy to be able to "attend" preschool. She noticed that the layout of the classroom has changed but she didn't feel like a stranger at all. She remembered how things were done around the classroom and still as eager as before to help.

Natalie is the only one who's from her class last year but it didn't really bother her.

Photobucket

We got to know the other children in the class. Clara just started 2 weeks ago so she didn't know a lot of their names too.

Clara got to do the special job of holding up the sign and tell everyone, "Hands up! Five more minutes to play." Of course, her voice was rather soft to hear anything.

After clean up, it was time to sit on their individual mats and have a little quiet reading before Sonya and Clara "taught" the children a song Sonya learnt in kindergarten.

Clara learnt the songs by listening to Sonya.

Everyone got a hot chocolate treat.

Erin read a story to everyone while the tables were cleaned for a special craft time. Sonya and I taught the children how to little lanterns.

Time to line up and get ready to go home.

It was a really nice morning. Clara had lots of fun on her special day and so did Sonya. I did wonder if it was more like Sonya's special day than Clara's special day. Doesn't matter I guess. They both had so much fun! I am glad that I decided to put in the application for Clara and we are so lucky to get a spot in the school!
