Jingle Bell All the Way Home

Last night, Sonya just picked up her racket and started pretending that it is a guitar and started her own concert with it. Enjoy :)

Sleepy Head

Clara had been having problems sleeping because of her flu. Yesterday, she was rather sleepy but when I put her to bed, she kept crying and crying. So I put her into the swing while I washed the dishes. She dozed off quite soon with saliva dripping from her mouth and mucus coming out of her nose. She was not in a very uncomfortable position so I took the camera and filmed her and woke her up. I later gave her the pacifier and sat her up properly in the swing and soon, she fell asleep again. I tried putting her in bed after 20 minutes but she woke up and didn't sleep after that :(

Flu Virus

Both Sonya and Clara have the flu since last Thursday. We brought them to MIT Medical last Friday as Clara had a slight fever on Friday morning and also because MIT Medical would be closed from Saturday till Christmas Day. Sonya still has a slight cough and stuffy nose but she is already much better. Clara on the other hand, is coughing and sneezing. Her nose is so blocked up she has trouble sleeping. Worse, she has trouble with the mucus/phlegm. She gaged and vomited at least once a day since last Thursday :( She has not done so today so hopefully this is a sign that she is getting better.

Merry Christmas to all of you!

Two Teeth

Parking War

It is almost 10am and it is -7 degrees celsius outside.

It has been terrible trying to find a place to park with all the snow everywhere. The parking lots at Westgate and along the streets are now little car nests made of snow. To park your car, you need to first find a valid parking area like the carpark or designated parking spots along the street. Then, you need to find an empty car nest. And, not all nests are made equal. If it was a parking spot of an SUV or MPV before the snow came and the driver didn't do a good job of shoveling a path out of the snow, people like us with sedans might not make it into the nest :( Sure, you can try bashing your way into the nest but you can seriously end up stuck with half your car in the nest and half of it outside. In most cases, you end up red with anger or maybe embarrassment or maybe it is just so cold!

Anyhow, the surface of Charles River frozen. I took the photos while stuck in the terrible traffic along Memorial Drive on my way back from sending Sonya to preschool.

Crazy Weekend

Traveling has become quite miserable ever since the snow storm last Thursday. The temperature has been mostly below freezing and after the snow, sleet and rain on Sunday, everywhere is just a mess! The sidewalks are slippery. The roads are slippery. A lot of the parking lots along the street are all covered in snow. It is so difficult and sometimes impossible to park!

Anyways, last Saturday was a very busy day for us. We went to the Harvard Coop to meet Santa Claus at 1pm. Then, to help Sonya get some sleep before Natalia's birthday party at 3.30pm, we drove around instead of going home. Both Sonya and Clara slept for at least an hour while we drove. They got up at 6am and if they didn't get a nap in the afternoon, they would both be ultra grouchy by late afternoon.

These are some photos from Natalia's birthday party.

After the party, we went to the Westgate holiday party. By the time we got there, there wasn't much food left. We waited till Santa Claus came and then went to Royal East for dinner.

And then on Sunday, there was supposed to be a Rick Goldin's concert at the Harvard Coop. We went last year and Sonya enjoyed it very much. Even though it was raining and snowing and the wind gusts, I brought Sonya there anyway while Justin watched Clara. The concert was still on but sadly, we were the only ones there. It was not until towards the end that another mother and daughter came and joined us. Sonya was rather shy and kept very much to herself. I tried to get her into the music. After a long time and with some tickling and stuff, she started singing a little and played with the bells that Rick Goldin brought. The Harvard Coop gave us a coupon to get 1 free children book to reward us for braving the weather to come to the concert.

Sonya has been complaining about her hair getting into her eyes and that her eyes were painful so I trimmed her fringe last night.

I noticed this morning that Clara is sprouting her second lower front tooth!

Merry Christmas!

Cupcakes

I bought this food magazine 2 weeks ago and Sonya found a photo of cupcakes in one of the pages. Ever since, she has been bringing the magazine and pointing the photo to me saying that she wants that one. So finally today, we made the cupcakes.

And, this is Clara who just finished her avocado.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

It was beautiful this morning with snow everywhere. I asked Sonya whether she wanted to go outside to play in the snow or go to preschool and she chose snow to my delight :) It took a long time to get both of them dressed. Sonya had another nose bled after I had dressed her up and was putting on the jumpsuit for Clara. So I had to clean up the blood and then Clara burped out some milk and I had to clean up again. Finally, everyone was ready and out we went!

I think there is about 10 inches of snow last night. Look at the tricycle half buried by the snow.

Eileen gave Sonya the sleigh before they left and we thought we try it out on the slope next to the Tech Shuttle stop.

Ready, get set...

Stuck! The snow is too fluffy for sleighing. Sonya just sank down instead of going down the slope :)

Some people actually built an igloo outside Tang Hall!

Sonya didn't want to go inside so I did instead.

These are steam vents in the lawn.

Justin tried building a snowman but didn't succeed. Again, the snow was just too fluffy.

Off to the playground covered in snow.

Justin trying to throw a snowball at Sonya but it disintegrated in the air. Ha!
