Plimoth Plantation

Westgate organized a trip to Plimoth Plantation last Saturday. We signed up but we decided to drive instead of taking the bus so that the schedule will be more flexible.

Greeted by the Mooflower at the entrance :)

Our first stop was the Crafts Center and saw pottery and clothing being made.

Further down the road was the 1627 English Village where costumed role players pretend they are the earliest settlers going on their daily lives. They readily answer your questions but only the ones that pertain to that period.

We were inside one of the houses and I asked Sonya and Clara to try using some of the tools when a rooster stopped right in front of the door and went "crock-a-doodle-doo!" and thus the expressions you see on their faces in the photo below :)

It was a real eye-opener. They lined the outside of their "houses" with tree bark and used animal hide as "cushions".

There were many activities going on that day. Kids were able to make their own dolls using corn husks.

We had read on the activities schedule that there was going to be a wedding that afternoon but didn't realize that it was going to be a real wedding instead of a reenacted one.

I was completely mesmerized by the cute baby in the carrier!

This guy was hilarious! According to him, he can't understand why water is better since it is clear and we can't see any of the "good stuff" whereas beer still has the same color and taste of the ingredients from which it was made. They are the same ingredients from which bread is made so it must be as good :)
