Got free tickets to the King Richard's Faire for being the first 50 participants to register at the Cambridgeside Run and Ride event a few weeks ago. We have never been to the faire before simply because the admission tickets themselves are so expensive.

Greeted by a "living gargoyle" just after the entrance. Sonya and Clara were too scared to let me snap a photo of them with the gargoyle :)

This guy was snapping spaghetti with whips.

It took us a while to get used to seeing everyone dressed up as if they were from the Renaissance period. I asked Sonya and Clara if they wanted to dress up too, because there was costume rental, but they were not keen at all.

Sonya loved the performances.

Tiger show with different colored tigers - orange with black stripes, orange with brown stripes, white with brown stripes, etc.

This tiger was enormous! It was a tiger-lion mixed breed. It weighs 900 pounds and is 12 feet tall if it stands on its hind legs!

Would you ever hug such a huge tiger?

They tried to tempt the tiger with a small piece of meat to stand on its hind legs but the tiger just didn't want to.

There was also pony rides for $5 per child.

The main attraction of the faire was the jousting.

After all that fighting, we had to drive out all that negative energy by attending the princess academy :)

Lesson on how to curtsy and other princess stuff, the girls took the princess pledge and officially became princesses.

Princess stamp just to seal the ceremony :)

There were plenty of rides and games but they all cost about $3 each. Yes, expensive! I let Sonya and Clara went on the more unusual ones.

Hand and self-powered swinging ship :) Clara kept complaining that she didn't have enough air (I think she meant out of breathe) to pull the rope to get the ship to swing higher.

Another arm powered ride :)

Sonya really wanted to try jousting too. She sat on the horse holding a sword in one hand and tried to catch the ring in the dragon's hand as the horse zipped down the line.

Alas, she missed.

There were definitely quite a few interesting characters to see and say hello to.

Nothing beats having the photo taken with princesses :)
