Early Bird gets the Rat... maybe Not

It has been more than a year since a hawk landed on my balcony (video below)...

And ever since, I have been waiting for another one to do it again so that I can take some good photos of it. Well, we woke up to the sound of Justin opening the balcony door and talking to someone. Sonya and I didn't think much of it but we woke up anyways. That was when Justin told us about the hawk and I quickly grabbed my camera.

It was not exactly on my balcony but slightly below so I had to actually step out from the safety of my apartment out onto the balcony to take a photo of it. According to Justin, it was trying to catch a big rat that escaped under our balcony and was just waiting for the rat to come out again. I was going to grab my coat and go outside to get better shots but it flew onto the branch of the tree.

Before I could get my exposure right, it flew again and up to the balcony above us this time. Maybe if I had not opened my door, it might have come to my balcony instead. Bummer.

These are the best photos I could manage. Please come again, Mr/Mrs Hawk...

At lunchtime, it came back! Yay!!!

Have you ever seen a bird with its feathers up? *wink*

I am much happier with these photos than the ones in the morning :)
