Apple Picking at Honeypot Hill Orchards

It is apple picking time again and yesterday, we joined Sonya and her friends from preschool for their apple picking trip at Honeypot Hill Orchards. I was a little worried about the weather since the weatherman said there was a chance of rain and it looked gloomy in Cambridge but it was bright and sunny in Stow! This is the second time we followed the preschool for the apple picking trip. Last year's photos can be seen here.

Clara and I are both suffering from flu but we still had a lot of fun. It was definitely more tiring and chaotic for me this year not only because of the flu but also because Clara is very mobile now and it was tough making sure she did not hurt herself. You will see from the photo that I actually bought one of those restraint (I don't want to use the word "leash") that keeps your child from venturing too far from you. I feel really bad to have to use that on her but she really is a lot more adventurous than Sonya was. She would struggle to free herself when I carry her or hold her hand.

This is Natalia. Sonya and Natalia have a kind of volatile relationship. One moment they are best friends and the next they are friends no more :) It is hilarious!

Clara can't wait to join them in preschool and play with all the toys!

The kids getting in line for a head count before getting on the bus.

Clara with her "restraint" in one hand and my mobile phone in the other. My phone has become her personal music player. It seems to be the only thing that can soothe her these days :(

Everyone got a bag to place the apples they were going to pick.

Time for a group photo before getting on the hayride.

The lady on the right in the photo above is Erin - the new lead teacher in Sonya's preschool.

The staff from the orchard demonstrating to the kids how to pick the apples properly so that the apples will grow back next year.

Clara kept wanting to pick the apples that were already on the ground :)

Two full bags of apples for us!

The apples were too heavy for the "Super Princess" (that's what Sonya calls herself nowadays) to carry and they all fell to the ground.

My dream has come true! I always told Justin that I was always so envious of parents whose kids will just take an apple to eat it. Now, I have two kids that eat apples! Hooray!

After picking apples, it was time to go see the farm animals.

There was also a scarecrow. Clara really liked it as you will see later :)

It was snack time for the kids. They had cider donuts, apple cider and crackers.

Clara trying to show off her incredible strength but failed :)

"Super Princess" managed to pick up the smallest of the three pumpkins.

And she attempted the medium size pumpkin and failed :)

From my experience last year, I knew that Sonya would want to feed the farm animals and so I went prepared with quarters in my pocket :)

And then Johnny's mum found a fuzzy wuzzy caterpillar.

Clara kept pointing in the direction of the scarecrow and I finally brought her there again. She patted the scarecrow and gave it a big hug too :)

The kids just could not get enough of the caterpillar!

Another group photo before it was time to head back to preschool.

Sonya asked if she could go again when I strapped her in her carseat for our drive home.
