Salem Willows Park

Sonya was watching the video I made for her for her 2nd birthday and it came to the scene where she was eating ice-cream at the Salem Willows Park. She asked if we could go there again and since it was a nice sunny day on Sunday, we went.

Sonya brought her bubble solution along so she was happily blowing bubbles while Clara could only watch.

We let the girls get out of the stroller. Sonya continued with the bubbles while Clara walked around but mostly, she went back to the stroller where my orange backpack was to look for something to eat. Clara is a perpetual snacker.

Then we heard some music and went to see what it was. There were a group of people playing music and singing and dancing.

The moment we let Clara onto the grass, she started crying. I thought maybe she was tired and maybe the grass was too prickly. It was only the next day that I realized that she had blisters at the back of her feet from wearing the new pair of shoes. It was probably hurting her and she just didn't want to walk anymore. Sorry Clara :(

I think from now onwards, whenever we go to Salem Willows Park, we would have to buy ice-cream for Sonya. She has probably associated that park with ice-cream :)

We had some great photos of Sonya on this grass patch when we first went to Salem Willows Park and so we went there again to get more nice photos :)

Clara didn't want to get down again and mummy didn't realise why :( The only way to get her out onto the grass was with snacks.

We put the camera on the stroller and set the time to take the two photos below :)

There were also small arcades next to the park with old-fashioned rides but today's prices.

Sonya went onto the carousel and chose to sit on the chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken didn't go up and down like some of the other animals :(

There was this ride which went round and round forward and then round and round backwards. Justin and Sonya went on it. I felt uncomfortable just looking at it. Good thing neither Justin nor Sonya threw up after that ride :)

Clara was finally old enough to enjoy the coin operated rides :)

There was even a machine to dispense ballons! We thought we would buy Sonya a balloon as a grand finale for the day so that she would not have a big meltdown when we said that it was time to go home. She was very happy with the balloon.

Unfortunately, the wind was really strong and she didn't hold the balloon tight enough and off it flew to the top of the tree. She was really sad and cried and cried and cried for her balloon before dozing off on our way home. This is at least the third time that her balloons have flown away. You would think that she would have realized by now to hold on to it as tightly as she could but then again, she is still just "mummy's little girl" :)

  1. Love the picture you took of the family in the grass. The colors in your pictures are gorgeous.

We went to SW park last summer and loved it. I'd forgotten though. Now that you've reminded me, we'll have to head back up there.

Your family must love this blog!

  2. It is something about that particular grass patch. The photos somehow always turn out so bright and colorful!
