It is the last weekday of the 1-week school holiday and I finally sat down today with Sonya to work on her pirate props assignment from school. They will be reading about pirates from the book "The Treasure" next term and the teacher encouraged parents to assist their children in making things like a hat, eye-patch and a sword.
Materials used: 2 empty cornflakes boxes, black and red acrylic paints, brushes, scissors, utility knife, thick cardboard (from our moving boxes), staples, aluminium foil, elastic string and clear tape.

When Sonya first found out about the assignment, she was not happy at all because pirates and princesses just do not go well together :) But after showing her some pretty Halloween pirate costumes for girls, she agreed to have a pirate's hat and a sword.

While Sonya and I were working on the hat and sword, Clara colored a piece of paper and asked me to roll it up into a cylinder. She said it will be Sonya's telescope because "pirates have telescope, right?" I live for moments like this!

Holiday assignment done!

And so I made a telescope next :)

Meet Pirate Princess and Honey Bunny Pirate. Don't think they are going to scare anyone :)
