The weather was great and it was Open House at the Blue Hill Meteorological Observatory last Saturday. What other reason do I need to bring two kids on my own and climb 430 feet to the summit of the Great Blue Hill? None.

Before we got onto to the paved road, it was just paths among the trees and on rocks. Sonya was fine but Clara kept slipping on the rocks. I must admit that halfway through, I did wonder if it was a big mistake to do this on my own with two kids. That was the main reason why I ditched the path and went onto the paved road instead where at least we had a more relaxing climb to the summit.

So relaxing compared to the path that these two could be their silly selves. They did complain that they were tired but a lollipop was all that was needed to keep them going.

Reached the summit at last! Actually, it wasn't that long or tough a climb. They had not even finished their lollipops when we got there :)

Still had a little bit more of climbing to do to get to the top of the observatory.

Great view of Boston. We could clearly see Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower!

Saw some fancy weather equipments as well.

Kite making kits were available for $5. One of the kites got caught in the wind vane and had to be rescued.

This observatory has the "oldest continuous weather record in North America."

Sonya and Clara really wanted to make a kite.

Kite is all done and ready to fly.

Alas, the wind was just not strong enough to get it into the sky :(

On our way down, we saw that the ski lift was operating and went for it.

After all that climbing, it was time to pick Justin up and meet his ex-colleague for dinner at John Harvard's :)
