Sonya & Ryo's Birthday Party

Ryo's birthday is on 15th November and Sonya's birthday is on 19th November. Like last year, Ayako and myself decided that we should celebrate their birthdays together with a party at the Tang Hall's 24th Floor Lounge.

We invited mostly friends from Westgate. We had a total of 18 children, including the babies :)

The party started at 11am. Sonya had been very excited about the party especially since it was a Mickey & Minnie Mouse theme party and we had just returned from Disneyland in California. I had spent the whole week preparing for the party, like painting the picture of Mickey & Minnie for the backdrop, preparing the puzzle for the game, the mouse ears for the kids and of course, the food. Sonya had been patiently watching me paint Mickey and Minnie and I think she was very happy that the party is finally starting! I bought her a new set of shirt and skirt. Does she look pretty?

Here is Kanon giving Sonya her birthday present. Everyone brought gifts which made Sonya and Ryo very happy of course :)

Each child gets either a red, blue or yellow mouse ears. The birthday boy and girl gets mouse ears with sparkly bits. Sonya loves the ears and wore it almost throughout the whole party. Most of the other children didn't really like them.

Here is the table full of food that Ayako and I prepared. I made spring rolls, siew mai, fried wanton, yakitori, cupcakes and almond tofu with fruit cocktail.

Ayako bought Mickey Mouse plates and cups for the kids.

This is Elizabeth with her yellow mouse ears. She had on these red sparkling shoes that look just like Dorothy's from The Wizard of Oz.

This is Lea and Inka. Inka's baby is due anytime now!

Here is the birthday girl with a plate full of food. Before this she already had a couple of cupcakes and other stuff while I cooked.

These are not ice-cream but cupcakes that I made :) Aren't they cute? I am going to make more for Sonya to bring to preschool on Monday so that she can celebrate her birthday with her classmates during snacktime.

This is Kanon and her daddy.

This is Michael.

Here comes the birthday boy, Ryo!

There were lots of balloons which made Sonya even happier :)

This is Manuela. She is our new neighbour from Spain :)

This is Parmis, who also lives in our block.

Look at the girls with all those balloons!

We thought of making the party a little more fun for the kids with some activities. The first one was kind of like a treasure hunt. We had a Mickey and Friends picture sliced up into different pieces and hid them around the lounge. The children had to go round the lounge looking for the pieces and then bring them back to the table to form back the picture.

The second activity was Surprise Package. We got lots of small presents. We wrapped the smallest gift with the smallest box/wrapper. It is then wrapped again with the next smallest gift and box/wrapper until all the gifts are wrapped up as one huge package. The kids passed the package around as music plays in the background. When the music stopped, whoever is holding the package gets to open up, keeps the present inside and starts passing the new package around as the music starts again. I think the kids enjoyed it since everyone gets to take a present home!

Unfortunately, we were short of a present. The good thing was that it was Sonya who didn't get a present from the activity and so I quickly got the present that Justin and I bought for her and got her to open that instead :)

This is Sonya and Ryo's birthday cake :)

This is Charles with Ryo's tricycle.

This is Alexia.

This is Parmis again.

This is Eddie, Charles' younger brother. He is 8 months old and already 34 lbs!

Tried to take a group photo of all the kids together is just the most challenging task in the world.

Here are the birthday boy and girl!

And, here is Sonya and myself :)

We got the kids little favor bags with some toys inside as well.

This is Justin being "attacked" by the three girls :)

The children always have to go explore under the table :)

The party has ended and all the guests have left. It was time to clean up and go home.

Here is Clara and Kei, Ryo's younger brother :)

It was a great party...
