It was Chinese New Year Celebration at the Boston Chinatown last Sunday. Many of the streets were closed and parking was difficult. We first went for Dim Sum at Empire Garden restaurant before checking out the Lion Dances. Sonya was very excited to see the Lion Dances while we were still in the restaurant having our lunch.
There were many different lion dance troupe going around the shops. We just had to step out of the restaurant and there was one at the shop next door. It went off round the corner but soon another one came.
There were firecrackers and they were very loud. People gathered around to see the performance.
But unfortunately, Sonya's initial excitement was shattered when the firecrackers went off and all there was left were tears rolling down her chubby cheeks :)
As for Clara, she was "knocked out" in my arms and oblivious to all the noise around her :)
I think Sonya was truly scared. When we were getting into our car, she heard another lion dance nearby. She was already inside the car and Justin was strapping her in. She got scared but Justin assured her that it is outside and won't get her. As I still had not got into the car, she replied, "But it will get mummy!"
