Clara's Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Clara's 1st Birthday and threw a party for her at the Tang Hall 24th Storey Lounge. The theme was Cheerios since it is one of Clara's favorite finger foods but since it was her special day, it became CLARAIOS!

We started things off with a cheerios themed craft that I found in the Cheerios website/book. I supplied mini pipe cleaners, wobbly eyes, glue, candy and of course, cheerios. The kids meticulously transformed these simple objects into worms, spiders, stick figures, etc. The most creative one was Ryo's eyeglasses :)

This is our next door neighbor, the Morales family - Manuel, Macarena and Manuela.

Squish the spider, Manuela.

This is Ler Ler and Ting Ting.

See the Cheerios book in the bottom right hand corner. That's where I got the inspiration for all the activities and lollipop snack :)

I must apologize to all the guests for the food today. Personally, it was quite a disaster. The crispy oat prawns was not crispy. The tandoori chicken was soggy. The mini quiche, which was good last night when I baked them but got a little burnt when we overheated it in the oven this morning. The beef stew was not too bad but both Justin and I feel that it was missing an ingredient or two but I can't figure out what. The crust for the mini cheesecake was a little too thick. Sigh... Also, I made many paper flowers that I wanted to use to decorate the room but we just ran out of time. Another sigh... I felt like crying when I was putting the food out before the guests arrived.

This is Charles.

This is Lea.

This is Haitao and Eddy.

Yeah! Our birthday girl, CLARA!

Sonya made 2 cheerios worms.

And, here are Ryo's eyeglasses!

Justin decided that the kids would like some Tom & Jerry cartoon. It sure got lots of reactions from the kids!

This is Jan - Lea's baby brother.

This is Elizabeth who had a party yesterday to celebrate her 4th birthday.

And their baby brother!

The other activity was edible art. I baked sugar cookies and supplied frosting, fruit rollups, cheerios, cookie cutters, etc for the kids to create their own edible painting.

This is Charles and his edible painting :)

And here is Ryo eating his painting!

Time to cut the cake. I baked the cake last night and decorate it at 5am this morning. I also made mini Claraious boxes of cheerios and cheerios lollipops for the kids to take home.

This is Carla - Sonya's preschool teacher and her daughter Alexandra who is 7 days younger than Clara :)

I spent almost 2 weeks preparing for the party and it was all worth it!

Happy Birthday, Clara!
